I must admit, "death by ceiling fan" was always going to be a long shot.
But now that Home Depot has been forced to recall almost 200,000 Hampton Bay ceiling fans over fears that blades might detach, leading to a possible fatal injury, my card is full.
Dear Lord, can 2021 get here fast enough?

Owners of the fans should stop using them immediately and inspect them for blades aren't secure or have a gap between them and the base of the fan, the CPSC said.
King of Fans, which makes the ceiling fans, published a video on its website with instructions on how to inspect the fan. The company said it will replace any of the faulty ceiling fans for free.
I'll bet the truth is that they'll exchange them for free. Folks who hired professionals to install their fans will have to hire them to come back, maybe even twice - once to remove the bad fan and again to install the new one.
