McConnell introduced a "poison pilled" stimulus raise bill
That includes repeal of Section 230 and the formation of a commission to study election fraud in the 2020 election.
What a shithead. Fuck that guy. I say we call his bluff and pass it. Repealing Section 230 is way more harmful to Republicans than it is Democrats or big tech companies. Trump wouldn't be President right now without it and the Republican base replies on FaceBook and other sites to spread its message. And who gives a fuck about a commission to study election fraud. That's a toothless committee that isn't going to find anything anyway. There wasn't any fraud in the 2020 election, so study away. Biden will be inaugurated before that committee could even we put together and start looking at anything. Trump already tried this once and they split up without even issuing a report. Hell, Trump would commission a committee on his own. This is a big nothing. Call McConnell bluff and pass it. These aren't Republican poison pills, they are Republican suicide pills.

9. You don't give a crap yet you post on DU.
Sites like DU would likely not be able to exist if they can be sued for what people are posting here.

10. 230 protects this website, average users ...all sorts of things...please educate yourself. That
would be a disaster. We don't have media like Fox what we do have is internet, social media...this would destroy our only way of getting info out...this website would affected.

14. Right now, I like $2,000 and the second we call their
bluff they'll fold because they don't want 230 repealed either.

4. The Republican led Senate is constantly holding witch hunt hearings anyway.
I bet they spent more money on Hillary's fricken emails than they did investigating 911. What a fricken joke. Let them have their fake election investigation hearing. And as far as 230 goes, I don't think it matters. People are always gonna find a way around it anyway. I am with you. Pass it.

20. Which is why
some committee to study it wouldn't be worth anything. They are going to "investigate" something from here to the end of time anyway.

show stretched out for years to discredit Biden...no.

19. Exactly
That's why it's a bluff.
McConnell is trying to kill the $2,000 by attaching it to something nobody wants in 230 repeal. Put the ball back in his court by saying if it gets help to the American People we are willing to do it. Then let him sweat out how to find another way from bringing the bill to the floor. He's doing this for two reasons. He and most of his members don't want to increase the checks, but he also doesn't want to put it out there just before the GA vote. So fuck him, tell him we are in and make him be the one to either pull it back or put it up there and have the republicans vote it down just before election day. 230 isn't going anywhere and even if it did, people would be demanding it be reinstated in a month. |

I wouldn’t think the GOP wants 230 repealed either. And simply because someone has the right to sue doesn’t mean they will be successful. I say call McConnell’s bluff.

to defend lawsuits.
This would f*ck over the smaller sites - like DU - while the big dogs would find a way around it. Nope. Dems SHOULD NOT GIVE IN. |
