Letlow, who was elected in November to represent Louisianas fifth congressional district, was being treated at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport after announcing on December 18 that he had tested positive for COVID-19. He was supposed to be sworn into Congress on Sunday. He was 41 & has two young kids. He attended several maskless rallies, I do know that, and he paid the price and endangered others. likely contracted covid from his victory party where no one was wearing masks.

What the hell was he thinking?!
Oh right.. kow tow to fucking trump who Fucked UP.
ETA.. Reading the thread I see he was "into masks.. just not mandatory".
So I correct my statement on "What the hell was he thinking?" It is sad!

(319,025 posts)It's weird how it's deadly for some but not others.
My grandson got it in Denver last month for about 3 weeks with really bad flu symptoms but has now tested negative. Thank Goodness.. we were so worried!
He got it from his Housemate who was asymptomatic
yaesu
(9,318 posts)its a strange virus indeed. That special treatment is in very short supply & most hospitals use a type of lotto to decide who gets it but that doesn't stop the elitists from getting it.

(47,423 posts)Trump also got Regeneron antibodies.
yaesu
(9,318 posts)Regeneron's REGN-COV2 Antibody Cocktail is supposed to be only for those over 55, with underlying health conditions and who have tested positive for COVID-19. And timing is everything.

(36,909 posts)and he posted something a couple days before xmas (i think) that if people have antibodies to please donate because those who are sick need it -- something to that effect

(319,025 posts)So it doesn't work on everybody.. it's like the freaking Twilight Zone.
Are you watching Stephen King's, "The Stand", on CBS?
It was written in 1978 but is very current today. It's about a post- Apocalyptic Pandemic World. is it any wonder they made it a series?
I just noticed it on amazon prime video. There's only been 2 episodes.

(47,423 posts)Trump got an antibody infusion, which this guy apparently didn't get.

(319,025 posts)so worried, too.. in Oregon.
But he flew home for Christmas & they all got to spend quality time together. The other kids stayed in Montana & Melbourne Australia.
It was said on this thread that they saw a vid with Congressman Letlow & the mask was on then. But He also went to the WH Christmas party with his wife on Dec 18.. so I imagine there were lots of maskless people there.

(9,318 posts)I'm pretty sure he walked a tightrope when it came to mask wearing, knew it was the responsible thing to do but also didn't want to seem too "weak", did see pics of him wearing masks, especially when with family but also seen pics of him maskless while campaigning.

(6,642 posts)He regurgitated the usual pro business nonsense and failed to respond to either a mask mandate or a lockdown:
We asked the two what were their thoughts about a potential second lockdown and a mask mandate amid growing concerns related to COVID-19. More than 200,000 people statewide have tested positive for the virus so far.
We have to make sure our economy gets back open. We have to learn how to live in a COVID world. Other nations have learned how to do that and theyve done so safely and we have to continue to do that, Letlow said.

"Other Nations" had leaders who didn't call it a freaking "Hoax" for 70 days while playing golf.. & doing everything possible to spread it since Then!

(319,025 posts)a mask which has been noted in the thread.. there would have been others who couldn't care less about the safety of other people.

He just won the runoff THIS MONTH.
How fast everything changes.

(34,249 posts)But her husband was 77, had cancer and on dialysis.
It is unusual for it to take young people like this so quickly. Usually the languish with symptoms in ICU for weeks as their immune system attacks their body with blood clots and eventually multiple organ shut down. But it's something that takes time.
This guy wasn't even in ICU for a week.

(47,423 posts)Virus is unpredictable. While most people who died were older and/or with pre-existing conditions, some young healthy people have also died. Some pretty quickly.

(21,646 posts)TINLEY PARK, Ill. The mother of an 18-year-old woman who died of COVID-19 is speaking out, urging anyone who believes the virus is a hoax to think again.
Sarah Simental had abided by the guidelines, social distanced and had done everything right, yet still contracted the virus. Less than two weeks later, it took her life.
Simental had just turned 18 last month, and she was a senior at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort.
.....
They showed pics of her having her birthday just with parents very sad case
no prior health conditions
She was not overweight
anyone can get it and go fast
