Like every other small town in WA, I'm sure Leavenworth has been hit by the pandemic. Social distancing has closed many businesses. We didn't need this.

...because Leavenworth is heavily dependent on large crowds during Oktoberfest and pre-Christmas through the Winter Festival MLK weekend. No way they can social-distance those events and still remain afloat economically.
