GOP seeks to roll back mail-in voting in states like Georgia and Pennsylvania that Trump is contesting

Joey Garrison
USA TODAY

WASHINGTON – As President Donald Trump continues to level baseless claims of voter fraud almost two months after his Nov. 3 election loss, Republican lawmakers in states Trump contested are pushing new voting restrictions for future elections.

That includes proposals to roll back laws in Georgia and Pennsylvania that allowed all registered voters to vote by mail – moves that civil rights and voting advocates say could suppress turnout.

It comes after nearly 160 million Americans – the highest share of eligible voters in more than a century – voted in the November election won by President-elect Joe Biden, fueled by a surge in mail-in voting amid the coronavirus pandemic. Americans cast 101 million mail-in ballots, accounting for 63% of the overall vote, with Biden supporters dominating mail-in voting by a 2 to 1 margin over Trump supporters.

"It's unfortunate that these lawmakers – some of whom actually put this in place and voted for it and worked on expanding it – are now looking at an outcome of an election and deciding that they think it didn't benefited them," said Amber McReynolds, CEO of the National Vote at Home Institute. "That's the most destructive way to enact policies around voting."

One day it's mail voting and another day it's the hacked machines. Which is it? Or am I more confused than I think?

I get that MF45 doesn't want to admit he lost. Still, it just looks like they'll blame whatever they want, but only in states where he lost. The states where he won had no fraud? And the dems are just too clever to cheat enough to take the senate in the same election? Color me dumbfounded.

and I predicted this would happen. We do have a Democratic governor who should be able to veto the bill, I'm not positive of the process involved if Republicans can get around this. I don't think Republicans can override a veto.

I am 100% convinced that mail in voting was a big factor in Democrats winning the presidential election. Why else would DeJoy purposely slow down the mail?

There was a huge push to use mail in ballots, by the local Dems. Why? Because they believe in science and didn’t want to get sick.

Suppressing the vote and outright cheating is the only way for them to retain power.

9. Absentee Ballot for GA Runoff Election Has Yet to Arrive!

I live in Marietta, Ga. Got my absentee ballot for the general election without any problem. I requested an absentee ballot for the Ossoff/Warnock runoff on November 8. The ballot tracker system indicated my request was finally approved and mailed to our home on December 2. When it didn't arrive after four weeks, I went to a nearby early voting site at six o'clock in the morning. Stood in line an hour. (By the way, it was 38 degrees that morning and cold.) Got my absentee ballot canceled and proceeded to vote. Was told the absentee ballots were being mailed by a third-party vendor in Arizona. I've yet to receive it. Other people I know have encountered the same problem.

You tell me if something doesn't smell fishy about this.
