People think that after his presidency Trump will create his own media empire or latch on to OANN or Newsmax....but As much as he pretends to hate the MSM, he craves their attention and wants to be like by them (or the at the very least being talked about)...but the MSM will move on and ignore him once he is out of office...no more covering his latest tweet, or his MAGA rallies or press conferences...yes, Newsmax and OANN, or his own media channel will cover it, but it wont be the same for him

Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but when the tool loses the power of the presidency, all but the most radical will lose interest in him.

(2,884 posts)It's hard for me to believe that the media will be able to stay away from the spectacle of an ex-president daily, publicly lying about his successor.
It'd be great if they shut him down. I just don't see how they'll be able to ignore trying to catch the red dot from the laser pointer.

There is a reason that most media is consolidating - it is expensive, advertising is a complex game, and you actually need content. My guess is that Trump will find it difficult, if not impossible, to get the necessary capital, and he'll still need to build a reliable audience at a time when his stock is tumbling.

(23,590 posts)OANN and Newsmax are much more ghettoized than Fox has been. Fox didn't even claim to be "conservative," just "fair and balanced." OANN and Newsmax are for people committed to some degree to an ideology. Personally, I think the creation of alternative rightist media may be a good thing in some respects, helping to keep them out of the "mainstream."
