Trump has been a loser all his life. But his ego has never allowed him to admit it.

Most likely he was the awkward chubby stupid kid who all the other kids made fun of. So he began constantly praising himself, since nobody else would. His retreat from reality led to the development of his huge ego.

He feels a terrible need to be respected, but the people who matter have always rejected him. His defense is to convince himself that he doesn't care and he tries to convince them too by lashing out at them.

But being rejected by the whole country is hard to ignore. He can't convince himself that he doesn't care. In fact he is full of rage and hate.

So he wants revenge and is trying to get it by doing as much damage to the country as he can.
