(34,189 posts)The same as I did with the $2400 my husband and I received earlier in the year. I split it among the Biden campaign, Planned Parenthood of Florida, ACLU, CREW, local food bank, and other non-profits.
Even if it is only the $600 each, I'll donate it all - this time probably all to the food bank.

(21,289 posts)I've put it off for a long time.
I would also like to give a few hundred to a friend that works at Walmart. He's worked for them for 15 years, but the only health insurance they offer is the high deductible kind - $2700 before they pay a penny. His younger sister (36 years old) just got diagnosed with colon cancer. Her doctor wants him to get a colonoscopy. He'll have to pay for it out of pocket.

(2,747 posts)The money is relief...yes...but it's all going to stimulate the economy, no matter who gets it... maybe even the rich!
As long as that money is spent, the Multiplier Effect takes over, and everybody benefits. People... shops...mechanics...landlords... everybody. The banks, even, because people pay their mortgages and credit card bills.
"But they'll just buy beer..." Yup... and the brewers and their employees will pay their bills and buy food, too.
I had the plan to just shovel money out of helicopters over populated areas.
Laugh all you want, but it would stimulate the economy better than tax cuts for the rich.

Pay down some credit cards (2). Pay someone back some more. Get some better necessities, near necessities, some art craft supplies, some small pure fun stuff, and make some small donations.

(24,906 posts)rather it's that the businesses in my small town where I will spend it have a need. If you want to help small businesses, along with giving them financial help, give money to their customers. They will need to employ people to get that money, too. It's the trickle up theory of economics. How can we go wrong doing the opposite of what the republicans have been doing for 40 years.

(168 posts)I do not need it and do not qualify anyway. Now from what I understand , some people have already received the 600.00 today via direct deposit but, in quite a few cases around here, I must question the wisdom of receiving it right now since I believe a good chunk if not all of it will simply be run through the local bars and casinos between today and especially tomorrow night.

(2,636 posts)Two heart attacks by 51 led to disability--v-tach can cause a teacher to pass out in her middle school classroom, and middlers carry sharpies. Just sayin'--awarded in February, pre corona. Mr. O' Nette is retired. We didn't face a loss of income directly because of the Virus fiasco, but it certainly precluded me from substituting in the schools. No thank you.
That said, my $600 is going for new Callaway Rogue Irons. Mr. O'Nette's is going for a new gargantuan smart TV with QLED and sound bar. Neither of us will buy again for ten-15 years.
In the event we do merit the additional $1400 apiece, we'll bank some and donate some to the local food bank, foster care system, and battered women's shelter.
We'll likely continue to pump money into local restaurants' curbside service, the independent coffee places in town, and the quirky local shops in the downtowns because they are hurting and I want them to stay open.
If you don't *need* your $600+ funnel it to those who do.
We're in this together, whether they like it or not.

Heck I spend a lot of $$$$ just trying to get rid of people like Ted Cruz, I did postcards for the Georgia senate.

(60,436 posts)If, by some accident, I do get a check, I will send it back to the USA, endorsed over to a food bank over there that I donate to.
People who need it should get it. If people who don't need it get it anyway, I hope they donate it to people who do, or else to causes that help people who do.
