A HERETIC I AM

At some point, a modern day Joseph Welch is going to have to say to Trumpy...

those same words. IN PUBLIC, in front of the Congress and the entire world,

"You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"

It has to happen soon. Someone. Anyone? Please? It should be McConnell, but it also should be clear that Moscow Mitch doesn't have the fucking balls, or if he does, they are buried under a large pile of money.

Why would that bother Trump? He's never had a sense of decency; why would he feel its loss? . . . Journeyman Dec 2020 #1

over 300,000 people have died because of his, the treasury has been gutted, our institutions undermined. Decency couldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.

What's been harmed ( or is headed to being harmed) is the continued ability of the Treasury to sell debt paper to foreign interests.

The US Government can not actually go bankrupt, because we finance cost overruns with debt we monetize with money we print.

If you own the printing presses, and can therefore payoff any money you owe that is monetized in your own money, you can simply print your way out of debt.

Of course, that scenario is extraordinarily inflationary, but the point still stands.

We can't go bankrupt because we make the money we are indebted to.

It sounds fucked up, but that's the way it is. Welcome to conservative economic ideology.

And yes, sooner or later, those fucking cows? They are coming home, have no doubt.

I hate to think we have collectively shed this portion of our former national character, but it increasingly feels like it.

And then, eventually, a ray of hope shines again, perhaps in the words of a Warren, Sanders, Booker, or Schiff. Or, posthumously, RBG or Lewis.

He would be ripped to shreds by talking heads on Fox/OAn/Newsmax

his home address would be published on the internet

his "ties" to China and Iran would be questioned

He would be accused of being a pedophile

his family's "ties to Ukraine" (if you know what i mean) would be questioned by this same news sources.

it is a different world now...........
