Pro-covid Florida is determined to take the rest of us down with it.

https://www.newsnationnow.com/us-news/southeast/miami-packed-with-partiers-ahead-of-new-years-eve/

The video is of Miami partying hard. Mostly maskless, of course. The Uber driver working though frightened and feeling powerless when people refuse to wear masks in HER car? That's America writ large.

"Covid-19 is like gravity. You don't have to believe in it. It doesn't require faith, it's immune to prayer, and it doesn't discriminate. At this point, if people choose to deny gravity and jump off buildings while calling other people sheep, the best the rest of us can do is keep our distance so they don't fall on us." down parties with 300 people. They have found several.

Then there's the restaurants that refuse to shut down. The city and state don't do much about it other than tell restaurants they are breaking the rules if they do and they fine a few of them.

and just execute them right there on the street...

That is essentially what these idiots are doing and at least this way they don't take up valuable hospital beds in 3 weeks.

Just a few executions and I bet the clubs and bars empty out pretty fast.

sort of a "stand your ground" answer.

I'm just done with stupid people.

5. What is this Florida bigotry that keeps popping up? The entire state
Thu Dec 31, 2020, 01:32 PM
Dec 2020

is a object of repeated hostility for some. Why?

Is Florida the nation's "minority" state, the worst of all the inferior states? How'd that happen? Jealous spite because of warm winters?

It doesn't matter at all to those prone to this that half the vote was for Biden or that large numbers partying in Miami right now flew in from OTHER states (their states) because all Floridians deserve to be broad-brushed with bigoted contempt and hatred.

Why?

Is it that all Floridians are always too lightly dressed and don't own snow shovels? All of us are lazy and irresponsible, sponging off the rest of the country? We all lie around in retirement, refusing to work while others support us? Good people can't be safe while we're running around spreading disease?

We're determined to drag down the nation?! Like our sort always do?

If only the entire state could be exiled to another continent? It should have never been here in the first place?

It's obvious hyperbole. An American sport when the targets are women or minorities or poor people, but suddenly grossly unacceptable when the target is "Becky" or "Karen" or a Florida governed by DeSantis. Suddenly the silent have found their voices. America somehow survived being the well deserved butt of the world's jokes under Trump, Florida too shall survive. Hopefully.

Perhaps folks could form an anti-defamation league for Florida.

who should "accept" bigoted smears because it's just, what?, getting our own back?

Some of these attacks have wished great harm on the entire state, even death, but now all Floridians are not just the very essence of the uber-hyped and -demonized white female racist but we're poor sports to boot.

You might want to rethink.

21. Are your feelings hurt when the world laughs at America under Trump?
Thu Dec 31, 2020, 02:30 PM
Dec 2020

As I said, I'm just not remotely moved when Americans express their pain and outrage that Becky and Karen and yes, Florida, are getting lumped together because, dear God, my daughter's name is Becky and it hurts her feelings. It's no different than Tucker Carlson's outrage that some states are discriminating by prioritizing vaccinations for the most affected and vulnerable, i.e. minorities and the elderly. Yes, Tucker, technically, you're right. It's IS discrimination, but . . . seriously.

America remains the butt of the world's jokes because Trump has worked hard to give them plenty of material, and among the states it appears that Florida and DiSantis are trying to put the Onion and The Borowitz Report out of business, though my home state of Texas is fighting hard for second place.

I get it. Karen is feeling the weight of name discrimination and it's bringing her down. She's right. It isn't fair to women named Karen. Just so . . . not . . . fair because, well, all names matter, right?

Like you said, all of these folks come here from other places, and I am including Trump, Stone, and Epstein. I mean, people call Trump "Florida Man" now. Sorry, he is "New York City Man."

Lots of Fascists come from Oregon, CA, WA, and other liberal states.

Anyway, it drives me bonkers, especially living in true blue Palm Beach County.

We are not ONE Florida.
Please don't lump us all together. When you see the crazies behaving irresponsibly, they don't speak for all of us. There are many of us that you don't see on the news, just quietly sitting at home scared to death our family members will die and we are trying our very very very very best to keep them and ourselves alive.

Those Florida visitors went there to party because the locale is inviting for such parties. Sadly, they will all get back on the plane after the party and head home to share their adventures and their Covid with the folks in their home towns.

They got infected within several weeks. Now they are very sick, both hospitalized with double Covid pneumonia. They might not survive. They claim they were being safe and have no idea how they got it, but traveling to Florida wasn't safe to begin with. The Florida governor is trying to play down the pandemic and hide the true infection rate, but it's everywhere down there.
