My wife wanted to see New York ball drop for the New Year. Instead we had a huge Kia videos screen pretty much obscuring everything. She wasn't pleased.
I don't think Kia got the bang for their advertising buck that they anticipated. In another direction it was a Volkswagen banner. Not quite as obnoxious, but you really still couldn't see the ball drop.
I wonder if there is a message in that two foreign auto companies are prominently being displayed to the point of distraction for our uniquely American celebration.

(17,862 posts)With the sponsor advertising on one of the screens. I mean with such large TVs now days, what is the problem.
At some point sponsorship annoys the crap out of people. I know they employ really smart people, but running ads for $50K cars during Walking Dead doesn't seem productive for example.

All I saw was Kia advertisements.
I was watching CNN.

(16,369 posts)The ball drop is beyond dumb with or without the corporate logos plastered everywhere. Never understood the appeal.

We had to look at a rebroadcast to figure it out. My wife was mad.
