If I never have to see the 400-pound slab of human gristle's face

or hear his whiny-ass voice again, I'll be extremely happy! God he is so detestable, he makes my skin crawl. It just baffles me how anyone in their right minds, and seemingly intelligent people can still support this piece of human garbage.

process what it has become ... or even attempting to recognize it as it never enters the forefront of their minds to examine what it is today. Being smart does not IMO exclude one from doing this. I have some similar friends I have politely written off. It is strange, almost like they have been mesmerized/hypnotized into the cult. And, a bit scary.

It is an affinity like no other. They don't care how much they are used and abused because they are accustomed to it and find it enervating. To them, nothing thrills like abusing and dominating people, it makes them feel superior.

There are areas in the country, the deep south for instance, where one's political leanings are as generational as one's choice of religions. Certainly a person could be born into a Baptist family and convert to Catholicism, or even born into a Republican family and evolve into becoming a Democrat, but by and large, folks are Republicans because Mom and Dad were Republicans, and Joe next door, and the preacher, and the co-worker.

Problem is, they get their information from distorted sources, they've been brainwashed to avoid any other sources of information, and they truly believe that they are the patriots in the country and hold the moral and ethical upper hand. They don't deem themselves to be bigots, they think liberals are baby killers, and that sums them up.

I've lived in rural Georgia for a long time and unless you live side by side with these folks it's easy to assume that they're all borderline Klansmen. The truth is much more subtle, but unfortunately, they also are unwittingly aligned with the nastiest of nasties the country has to offer.
