As the official put it: "He's not some moron like Louie Gohmert."

As I just reported on @cnn with @JohnAvlon, a Republican official tells me that part of why establishment types are so angry with Josh Hawley is because they think he knows better. As the official put it: “He’s not some moron like Louie Gohmert.”

Gohmert is a well known dipsh*t and wingnut -- while Hawley's play is seen as a purely cynical political move. And I (for one) consider it at least partially heartening that apparently some are willing to try to claw back our institutions from the brink. (by publicly chastising those that are flirting with the edge.)

Hawley is no shining light -- on the other hand there's really no purpose in criticizing someone like Gohmert (or R.Johnson).

Not mine, I got it from the late Ed Brayton.
However looking at the current crop of Trumpest Repubs in Congress, I am thinking this may be dated. Low intelligent scores do not equate low golf scores.
