General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDo you truly believe that Trump received 74 million votes?
Consider that his modus operandi is to project onto others what he himself is guilty of doing.
Also, when he says the election was "rigged", perhaps he rigged it?
There were some questionable numbers coming out of the states that used the ES&S voting machines.
Is it possible that he rigged those machines to get himself a few million extra votes and guarantee his re-election? Or does anyone think that he would never attempt something like that?
He was always questioning the mail-in ballots, with a paper trail, but never the voting machines that are capable of being manipulated?
I'm not so sure that he got 74 million votes. I think he may have cheated?
No, I don't believe he legitimately got that many votes. I think you're right.

(127,199 posts)I don't see how he received 10 million more votes than he did in 2016.

(87 posts)..in California Jerry Brown who was the first 'cool' gov. Plus he dated Linda Ronstadt (swoon). After Jerry we got a couple of Republicans with Deukmejian and Wilson. Gray Davis a low key Dem who was recalled by mostly outside money. I couldn't believe that then my home state actually elected Schwarzenegger. Then along came Jerry again for two terms, what a relief.
Now we have Newsom and the Republican machine is trying to recall him with outside money over, get this, restrictions mandated by the state to mitigate the corona virus spread.
What lunacy.
We have to repeal citizens united, that is the only way to fix this kind of crap politics.

Better to strike down the law and redefine the citizen issue to exclude corporate entities as citizens. IMO
Maybe 1/2 that, closer to his base #

Mean and dumb. Mean because they care not a whit for the health care workers who are driven to exhaustion due to their stupidity. Mean because they endanger the lives of everyone else when they refuse to wear a mask.
Dumb because they fall for a charlatan like trump. They emulate him, even after he, too, contracted the virus.

(5,412 posts)The thugs who arranged to flip votes (via more than one hard to detect technique) did what they thought was sufficient for Trump to win again. They fell short. The numbers for Biden were like a tsunami of blue. Trump, believing his best-brain genius arranged a win again, has just found it hard to believe he lost. He wrongly concludes that the other side was doing what he knows his side had done.
I think something similar happened in 2012 when Rove flipped out on the air when Fox News called the election for Obama. That time, instead, hackers took down a man-in-the-middle scheme where vote tabulators, mostly on Republican-owned servers, failed to flip the votes.
Pure speculation on my part, of course.

(11,790 posts)Its that a new results page with different results cover the original page
The end result is the same as flipping but its more like adjusting the readout
Heres an example.... in 2016 hc lost Wisconsin by 21,000 votes, since their are 3200 wards it takes less than 7 votes per ward average to change result
No one checks that the precinct result plus ab result plus early result equals the reported result and if they did and it was only off by a couple no one would even suspect fraud, they would just say, human err

(2,199 posts)This is not scientific on my part. I suspected before the 2020 election he was going to get more votes. Another unfortunate thing is I look like a Trump voter and MAGATS open up to me. I was shocked to find out who was voting for Trump in 2020. This election has put me in a massive funk. I am glad Biden won. I wrote ~100 letters with vote forward to swing states because of my concern of the dotard's support. The fact is rural and small town America hates Democrats like me and you. I just hope they become dejected that their dear leader lost and go back under their rocks and changing demographics shift things more permanently.

(6,707 posts)People who live in blue cities don't realize how many Trump-humping MAGATs there are in red states. They are EVERYWHERE. Every time you drive past someone, there's a 75 percent chance it's a Trump-voting conservative.
I absolutely believe he got 74 million votes, unfortunately.

(62 posts)...I absolutely think he was projecting. Now he may not have rigged the voting machines, but I can definitely see him attempting to get an illegitimate advantage in the election through various ways.
One thing we know for sure is he slowed down the post office on purpose.
When Biden hires his AG and if they begin an independent investigation on the election, Im almost positive other stuff will be uncovered. I hope they do.

(4,677 posts)Even if there was cheating at the margins designed to influence the electoral college count, the broad results are definitely accurate.
Anyone who doesn't believe that 40%+ of this country is actively on-board with Trump is living in a bubble or a dreamworld. Trumpers, loud and quiet, are *everywhere*. There's a reason that extreme-right conservative entertainment is a multi-billion dollar industry.

(3,900 posts)And it's hard to believe that the results on Trump's side are rigged/fake while those that favor Biden are accurate
questionseverything
(11,790 posts)even if I couldn't steal enough votes to change the outcome I would like to make it appear close instead of a landslide win by the democrat
so bidens win could be accurate even tho his totals were depressed
just saying that is certainly possible
LaMouffette
(2,638 posts)No, I do not believe Trump received 74 million votes. I expected him to receive fewer votes than in 2016, since the people who voted for him had four years to witness the atrocities he committed in office. In 2016, they didn't know how bad he was going to be. By 2020, at least some of them had to be appalled by his behavior and incompetence and corruption.
So I could see him getting almost the same number of votes, maybe a few more inducted into the cult, but not 12 million more than in 2016.

(12,618 posts)But I also believe that they are only able to do so in a manner that effects maybe 2%-3% of votes. That's why polls always seem to be off in a manner that only benefits Republicans and almost never Democrats. That's why when the polls are close, the Republican almost always seems to be the one who manages to scrape out a win.
So while I do have my suspicions that yes, Donald Trump might have cheated and did not really win 74 million votes, I do believe he did probably win somewhere around 70 million. No matter how you slice it, the sad truth is that a lot of Americans are just fucking morons, cheating or no cheating.

(41,492 posts)Another thing the Repukes have done for probably 25 or 30 years: they participate in telephone survey polls and they outright LIE. They claim to be Democrats and they say they're voting for the Dem candidate. Then they go and actually vote for the Repuke candidate. The pollsters are left scratching their heads, trying to explain why the numbers don't match up.
Pre-election polls cannot be believed in this country because the Repukes deliberately lie. Polls are less than worthless.
58Sunliner
(6,320 posts)DT and the pukes would do anything to win. Anything. We only picked up 9% more voters this election vs 2016. 2016 was 58%, 67% 2020. Still leaves over 32% who did not vote. Don't forget third party candidates. It is also a way to siphon votes, legitimately or otherwise.

(22,650 posts)then they are agreeing with the Republican position that there was widespread fraud.
To say he get not get the number of votes tallied for him is mutually exclusive with the position that the election was fair and there was no fraud.

(7,989 posts)-
Not that I'm disagreeing with you, but if he did rig the election, why didn't he also rig the swing states? Maybe he did, but the folks who counted the ballots didn't fall for the way he rigged it, and that's why he's suing them, to get those rigged ballots counted.
Or, he got a crew of people to fake ballots and slip them into the system, hoping they'd get caught, and that would prove his assertion that the vote was a fraud.
That said, some folks do seem to think that Mitch the Mouth's election numbers don't add up either.

(15,374 posts)Karl Roves "within 2%" cheat tactic with over-counts in solid red counties that suddenly show a 95% turnout when normally they would only have 45 to at most 50% turnout.
I'd look at Iowa, Kentucky, and other solid red States for voter fraud. I suspect there's a significant number of mail in ballots where the signatures on the envelopes are scribble/illegible or seem to be written by the same person.

(11,878 posts)encourage it? For God's sake, he's trying to steal the election right now, so it is clear he has the motive. Does he have the means to do it? The means would be the right people willing to make it happen. Does anyone believe there aren't people who would go to any lengths to try to give the election to Trump? Does anyone believe that our electronic voting system cannot be hacked? To those who refute the possibility, ask these questions.

(71,542 posts)Voters before the election. The usual crap cutting people from the voting registry. Create long lines. Republicans manipulated the post office and they sued everyone. But I think Trump did receive the votes. But we had more votes... millions more. We had a great turnout and that helped us beat an incumbent which doesnt happen often. And consider there were paper ballots so I think he did get that many votes which makes it so important to stick together. We beat him in the end. Joe Biden had more votes and was the perfect candidate to take on Trump.
