Among the people on the call were Raffensperger, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and several aides and attorneys, including Washington lawyer Cleta Mitchell. Seeking to defuse the tension, Meadows urged Georgia officials in the spirit of cooperation and compromise to find a path forward that doesnt involve the court system.
We dont agree that you have one, Raffensperger responded.

(81,661 posts)The President's Chief of Staff is supposed to help his boss make good decisions.
Not egg him on to commit illegal behavior.
"In the spirit of cooperation" break some federal and state laws.
And circumvent the democratic voting process.

(76,910 posts)Did they really think the fix was in, and really are shocked they lost?
At the risk of a CT, why would Meadows give up his seat in Congress to take this job for 10 months?
Did he think he'd be there for years? I can't see any motivation for giving up what could be a career of federal power for 10 months on this one temporary job?

(1,585 posts)They certainly did so on others. Just like the Ukraine call.
Impeachment now so he can never run for federal office ever again.

(6,581 posts)I thought it was bad enough when I imagined the call was just Trump. I should have known there would be others, but the White House Chief of Staff and several aides and attorneys were willing to put their name to this criminal behavior? What do you say to that? Have I just F***ing lived too long? This makes Nixon look like a choir boy who got caught hiding a cigarette.
Please, just come up with 11,750 votes for me. Especially when I think I read someplace else that it was 1,000 votes short. These people have been "running" the government for 4 years? This is a really, really bad TV show from the 70s.

(6,581 posts)If I live through this I'll be glad to simply not be anxious and angry all the time. At least Nixon did a few worthwhile things. This just gets worse and worse.

(1,227 posts)I will agree I was not real clear, but the comment was meant to imagine Franz Kafka's response if he was to see the TV program you mentioned.

(6,581 posts)Kafka would throw his hands up and say "Bullshit" because what was being presented on TV, or in our case, in real life, was bullshit. Too, too weird to be real, ever. But, unfortunately, for us it is just too real.

(9,606 posts)the conservative repub lawyer on the call (or one of them), is from Oklahoma City. I originally knew her as one of the founding members of the OKC chapter of NOW in the early 1970s. How far she has fallen.
