...I don't believe they're as disassociated from the truth as it appears. This is the Big Lie strategy which has dominated the republican party since Trump's utter depravity sent their pols into deep denial about the Putin-loving megalomaniac who obligingly acquiesces to every line of their anti-democratic, anti-American, corporate wish list.

They know the truth, they just don't feel any compunction against denying it with impunity- and with virtually zero consequences for their actions, they see no reason at all to stop.
