was caught back in DC this week with 2 high capacity magazines -- and charged with that crime, too. That crime carries a penalty of up to three years in prison and a fine up to $12,500.
I hope they throw the book at him.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department, Dustin Sternbeck, told the Washington Post on Monday that Mr Tarrio had been stopped in a vehicle shortly after it entered the district.
The 36-year-old was also found during his arrest to be in unlawful possession of two devices that allow guns to hold additional bullets, a source told CBS News.
The destruction of property charge relates to a protest in Washington DC on 12 December in support of the outgoing Republican president's unsubstantiated claims of systemic election fraud.

Mr Tarrio - who lives in Miami, where he also reportedly runs a grassroots organisation called Latinos for Trump - told the Washington Post at the time that he had burned the Black Lives Matter flag.
"Let's make this simple," he said. "I did it."

(61,033 posts)it seems. He got arrested soon as the car he was in entered the District. Must've been under surveillance and didn't even notice.

(25,063 posts)Are the D.C. police using some kind of facial identity equipment on cars entering the District? Or was this terrorist under long-term surveillance? Does law enforcement have numerous individuals under surveillance knowing that they could be the trouble makers tomorrow?
Good to see law enforcement is quietly on top of the District's safety. Good job with this one, folks!

(4,144 posts)His lawyers will all be comped. The NRA will hold him up as a poster child. He'll be a martyr to the "cause".
As much as I hate these folks, there's plenty of like-minded people willing to dole out their money to support them. Call me cynical if you like but we've seen too much of this over the years.

(1,690 posts)And its a fundraising tool. Eventually the numbers will dry up, and theyll be forced to rely on the deep pockets of the Kochs and Mercers. Yes they have plenty but it wont be as profitable for the loons.
The downside is that this also increases homelessness. That pool of dispossessed seem to want to blame people who want a solution, and reward the authors of their misery. I disagree with people who say there is no ideological underpinning to the conservative movement. At the real top, its how do we separate the fools from their money.

(18,138 posts)so having 2 hi cap mags in his possession in Washington DC is a really big no no and he may very well be serving prison time.

Someday, somewhere, there will be a big shootout with these fascists and a lot of them will be hurt and jailed by law enforcement.

(25,063 posts)Or are crimes within the District treated similarly to state crimes which are non-pardonable by a president?
I honestly don't know.

(10,297 posts)within the geographical boundaries of DC. The president can issue pardons for those convicted in WDC.
