So far she's been a terrible, not at home one. Is it simply the corrupt opportunities that are the lure?

(12,286 posts)She has lots of the latter and wants more of the former.

(35,454 posts)and I think it's something the Menace began to realize as the years wore on. Yes money is HUGE with him, but being king of the world, as he saw it, where everyone did what he wanted became the aphrodisiac of his dreams.

(53,214 posts)it becomes very addictive. We've seen senators who had everything they could possibly want, yet they held onto their seats until they died.

(18,690 posts)People who have enough money to live comfortably, or much more than just enough to live comfortably, who constantly need and want more--I've never understood it. Instead of just enjoying their good fortune and comfort in life, and maybe doing some good for others, they actually expend a ton of energy generating hatred and anxiety in other people, just to acquire more and more.
Some of those people have a "grand vision" of how they want the country or the planet to be that they are trying to implement (like the Christian Nationalists/Accelerationists/Racists), but Loeffler doesn't strike me as a "visionary."

(63,221 posts)Unless your goal is to make the world a better place, I cannot understand the desire to go into politics, especially when you have the means to have a comfortable life outside of that role and can support others who will do your bidding for you. It's not like any of these people appear to be addicted to work of any kind.
It has to be a drive for power. That is the only thing I can think of. I don't get it, as I have never been ambitious or had such a desire, but I suppose it is the allure for some of these psychos.
She is absolutely loathsome. I hope she gets trounced today.

(19,704 posts)give it to her hubby and then, they grow exponentially richer while also supporting legislation that will help destroy people who have less money than she does.
For someone like her (Republican) that's what you call a win/win.

(76,695 posts)Even non-classified info would hit senators before the general public.
Good investment analysts would love those nuggets of early information.
Her husband would now continue to get them.

(12,703 posts)"Congressmen for Life". The game is rigged for incumbents. Some get rich. Most just like the perks and the bribes and the never-ending line of sycophants... Even when they leave office they carry the title "Senator" and the like.
