Im seeing this all over Twitter, but I cant find a source. They are saying that 17,000 military ballots are expected to come in on Friday. I mean, those have to be Republican votes, right? Talk me down, people!

(27,639 posts)...doesn't necessarily mean opting for both Democrats over these current Republicans this time.

(66 posts)Turned out that was 'could come in'. By and large they didn't. Also..decent sized swaths of the military hate Trump and aren't as likely to go for his sycophants as you'd tend to expect.

(3,960 posts)Vast majority of what remains 70k is heavy Dem. Biden won the military vote. They may still lean R but 45-55% or so wont dent it.

(34 posts)There are plenty of Georgians living and working abroad right now and these mostly went to Biden last time.

(5,058 posts)Most won't be returned and Biden actually won the military votes in the general in GA. I think it will be 50/50 or 60/40 for republicans. It shouldn't be enough to change the results unless we are in less than a few thousand vote difference.

(3,921 posts)from what Raff said.
Overseas gov't workers tend to lean blue, and military tends to lean red - but remember Biden did better with active duty military than Dems typically do. So I think those ballots will be a wash or even somewhat blue.

(7,428 posts)In the General Election, not very many came in after Tuesday. The big Friday event had somewhere around 100 IIRC

(47,423 posts)Certainly won't be 17,000.

(47,423 posts)Chances that all 17,000 will be returned by Friday are slim to none.

(7,334 posts)Most likely there are only a few hundred really out there.
A lot of them will never be sent in. A lot are already here and counted in the absentee pile.
And they are not all military - the proper term is Overseas vote. Includes civilians working overseas and ex-pats too.
I would expect no impact as they will most likely break around 50/50.
