OK here is a question, Can Trump be Impeached say next week

and then tried after he leaves office (and we have a Democratic majority). Now I know full well he will be gone so removal isn't a thing but there is also the can't stand for office again penalty to consider. I honestly don't know the answer to this.

1. You don't hold an Impeachment Trial for someone who doesn't hold office.

It's not a criminal prosecution.

that is what I want to see happen. I get he is already removed but he should be barred from running. And I don't say that lightly, I am nearly always opposed to restricting the choice of candidates offered to voters even when I don't agree with them but this is a very different situation. If he runs and wins again, that will be the end of our democracy it really is that simple.

6. I understood the question as impeached in the house and convicted in the new senate

Trial to follow after removal from office. I could be wrong, it's been known to happen, once or twice

a day.

Trump can be tried at any point after leaving office if sufficient evidence exists to indict him. An Impeachment provides no legal basis for such charges.

And it's irrelevant because Trump won't be Convicted in the "new Senate". Conviction requires a 2/3 vote of the chamber.

9. And how many senators just lost the ability to be called Mister or Madam Chairperson

thanks to him? I wouldn't be surprised that it was at least 17. And yes I mean Impeached now, tried by new Senate. And again, it is the banning from running that I am desiring to see.

While there's a huge mess to clean up, we shouldn't ignore the opportunities afforded us by controlling the presidency and both houses of Congress. Fuck bipartisanship. Ram the progressive agenda through and let the Republicans gnash their teeth and whine. Biden may be the president of all the people, but Congress belongs to the Democratic Party, and we should act like it.
