Blacks were focused on Warnock and just skipped Ossoff?
Whites could stomach Perdue better than Loeffler?

(113,972 posts)so, I'd bet a lot of less Trumpster R's and Indies may have split their vote.

(3,623 posts)1) Perdue had an incumbent advantage (familiarity, resources, etc.)
2) Warnock got more of the Black vote
3) Warnock is considered more of a "homegrown" candidate
4) Ossoff's age
5) Ossoff's religion
6) Loeffler's gender

(18,486 posts)1. Some voters came out to only vote for Warnock;
2. Some voters won't vote for a woman;
3. Some Republican voters just couldn't bring themselves to vote for Loeffler, not because she was a woman, but because she's simply horrible;
4. Some voters won't vote for a Jew;
5. Some Republican voters were willing to cross over to vote for Warnock but not for Ossoff, not because of anti-Semitism, but because he's young and they didn't feel the same kind of connection with him that they felt with Warnock and Perdue, who are much more familiar to them.

(12,651 posts)This is more in relation to the OP's second question on why Loeffler got less votes.
That makes some GOPers more comfortable voting for Warnock over Loeffler but also choosing Perdue in the Ossoff race.
Some people see the GOP as a more "Christian" party and it's hard to appear more Christian than a Christian pastor.

(7,429 posts)So, basically, GOPpers switching votes is partially what pushed us over the top here in GA. Many of those GOPpers have been previous Perdue supporters, so wanted to continue their support. Loeffler's support is mostly due to the R behind her name. No one much likes her on wither side of the aisle or the debate

Warnock is definitely the better speaker of our two new senators
Loeffler was the more cringeworthy of the two R candidates.
