A coup is when a faction in government or the military plots surrpetitiously to take control of the state.

People think they know what a coup is - it's an attempt to take over the government by force. Technically, that's not quite right, but in this case, I think it will drive home the fact to many people that have been on the fence within the Red States what exactly happened today. Let's be perfectly blunt - it's hard to be sympathetic when watching the very symbols of this country be carted off by TRUMP-hat wearing rioters. That image will end up destroying any support that the MAGATs have left. This is an attempted coup, and Trump has committed treason against the United States.
