Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) tweeted a picture of several cases apparently containing electoral college ballots, which he said were "rescued from the Senate floor" by floor staff.

"If our capable floor staff hadn't grabbed them, they would have been burned by the mob," Merkley said.

2. There are five or six duplicates. It would not have mattered much.

But good on those securing them today.

Six copies to four destinations: 1 to President of the Senate, 2 to the Secretary of State of their state, 2 to the Archivist to the United States, and 1 to a federal judge in the district where the state's Electors met.
