when the attempted coup failed. I bet that more than a few Republicans politicians have had a come to Jesus moment today, and they recognize that they either condemn the coup, or are judged complicit. After today, Trump will likely have very few friends left on Capitol Hill.

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

5. There's the "...may by law provide" qualification re Congress

If Congress enacted any such law. Trump would veto it.

However, I'd love to see Trump be the historical first President removed via the 25th, however briefly, to bookend his impeachment, if enough of the Cabinet is more afraid of the mob than they are of Twitler. He sent the brownshirts after Pence, but the VP escaped and apparently coordinated the response. Decent odds Mike will be on board if it comes to that.
