I have not found any source that identifies the woman or who shot her, or why. One person interviewed by NPR thought it was DC police who shot the woman as she pushed to enter the Capitol, but did not have confirmation of that.

(21,300 posts)she becomes a martyr to the terrorist cause and they rally around her death.
Aside from that, her death is on Trump's hands for inciting this riot and shows how deadly his coup attempt is. Beyond disrupting Congress in progress, threatening them, and causing destruction of federal property, it has now cost someone her life.
If she was part of the mob, then yes, she brought it on herself. But the loss of life is always a risk in a riot and Trump now has yet another death on his hands.

(4,266 posts)With the Capitol police being on the other side, well, they did what they had to do in that situation and shot her before she could put who-knows-what in the room with them. What if it were a bomb? They don't know and didn't have the time to investigate.
I believe I saw a post to a tweet that had NBC footage and images of this. The word was that she'd been shot in the neck after trying to push a colorful bag through the broken window of a door.

(21,300 posts)Of course they had to act quickly. They did what they had to do if this is how it happened. I heard that she was shot in the chest, though.
