I’ve worked on the Hill and been at the Capitol several hundred times over the years. No way I could find this office without someone tipping me off.... so how would the rioters know? Awaiting after action review and prosecution of the #CapitolRiots perpetrators.

Agree, though, that they wanted those ballots. Did not get them because they were carried out when the House was evacuated.

I suspect that the ballots were the main or even the sole reason for the invasion of the Capitol. I think that a handful of the terrorists had been assigned by (?) to get them and the rest of the rioters were just there to create havoc and disrupt the process.

It was clear that the SP was in charge of the electoral slates, and they were no longer on the floor (because an aide wisely grabbed them when the group had to flee). Not finding them on the floor, they went to the SP's office to find them, hence the ransacking.

in the evacuation, but did not know that the SP's office had been ransacked. So that explains why they went into the Senate.

NPR was interviewing various Senators and Representatives while they were in lockdown. More than one reported hiding out in offices before they could leave and overhearing the rioters yelling, "Where are they?"

Maybe they were not asking where all the Congressional members had gone, but wanted to know where the EC slates were.

She was leading the break-in to the corridor.

She had 14 years of service, so discipline, planning, and sense of mission. It would have been a highly prized target for her.

She was a criminal engaged in a dangerous criminal act, breaking and entering at least, during a riot that endangered staff and elected members of Congress.

It's good luck, and also due to policy of engagement I think, that she was the only one shot.

She should not have been surprised to be shot, and having been in the armed forces she certainly was prepared.
