I am a vet, she was a terrorist and a threat to the life of 3rd in line. If I were there to protect as an agent and under the oath. I would have shot her in the neck. The shooter is a hero.
Sorry, my snow flakiness melted yesterday. High road, fuck that, the enemy is destroying us from the low road. Go where the enemy is at and gaining ground. Eradicate it.

If they would kill Pence, ya think they would leave Pelosi to take over. If I came to take out ANYONE in congress, I would be shot on site. She posted what she intended. She knew her actions. She was held accountable. No tears here.

(16,448 posts)"A woman shot and killed by police during the storming of the US Capitol by a pro-Donald Trump mob has been named as a 14-year veteran of the US air force and of four foreign military tours, including to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Ashli Babbitt, 35, had travelled to Washington DC from San Diego, her husband told the local news station KUSI, adding that she was a passionate Trump supporter.
.....
Less than a day before she joined the Trump loyalist protest, Babbitt, an avowed and public Trump supporter as well as a subscriber to a number of alt-right conspiracy theories, had vowed the insurrectionist movement could never be halted. Nothing will stop us they can try and try and try but the storm is here and it is descending upon DC in less than 24 hours dark to light! she wrote on Twitter.
....
Tweeting under the handle @CommonAshSense, Babbitt described herself as a veteran and a libertarian. Her social media account is filled with declarations of support for Trump and condemnation of Novembers presidential election, which Trump lost.
She also retailed many of the conspiracy theories shared by alt-right groups, including one about a vast network of high-profile and powerful paedophiles. Babbitt regularly retweeted controversial lawyer and conspiracy theorist Lin Wood, a high-profile Trump supporter who has litigated several of the presidents failed lawsuits contesting the election result."....(more)

It wasn't the rating (fire wall niners); it was the write up that you lived or died on. A few carefully selected words could mean a lot more "loser" promotion cycles. I'm sure it was the same way in the Army.

(3,616 posts)a domestic terrorist storming, while both the House and Senate are in session should be considered very risky. Frankly I am surprised that more were not met with force when they entered the building.
It begs the question why these terrorists felt so confident and at ease while pulling off this insurrection....

Most veterans make plans to be buried in a National Cemetery. She may not have yet, as young as she was, but her family may attempt to inter her in one. This should not be allowed. It would dishonor the true veterans interred at that location.
Hell, she should be posthumously be dishonorably discharged so no one can profit from her service or death.

Trayvon Martin smoked pot. Breanna Taylor once dated a drug dealer.
But a white terrorist shot while breaking into the Capitol during a riot was a "14-year veteran."

I've seen the video (or one of them). I'm sure an investigation will result, & the circumstances don't look good at all for the shooter, but we have to wait for the full story.
The Capitol Police or whatever law enforcement was involved by then really screwed the pooch the whole day.
Heads better roll. If we want to ID a department that needs to be defunded and replaced, this is the one.
As for those insurrectionists, they should be facing prison terms. Death penalty, tho, that's a stretch.

(868 posts)The shooter was in a suit and tie...more than likely a member of the Secret Service. He was doing his job protecting members of congress by any means necessary. She came through a broken window of a door that had been barricaded with chairs from the inside. Video shows the shooter aiming his weapon from a defensive position and from interviews I have seen was warning people not to enter. She went in anyway. Shooter did his duty and she got what she deserved.
