He is resigned, obviously because of dereliction of duty. I'd love to know what he was thinking - why he chose to basically stand down.

He was appointed by John Boehner. He could have been replaced by Nancy Pelosi

5. Why was he not replaced long ago? It's a position appointed by House leadership.

At least they are getting to crux of why the Capitol Police didn't treat Wednesday as a terrorist threat.
