Why I use "insurrectionists" instead of "rioters"

I've witnessed right-leaning pundits using "riots/rioters" as part of their equivocation between the Capitol coup attempt and the BLM protests. It's the "both sides" ploy.

"Insurrection/insurrectionists" for the Capitol coup attack is not only more accurate and specific, but also attaches a level of danger to their actions -- and those who incited them -- that "riot" doesn't contain.

I mean how is the security of the capitol building of the strongest nation on the globe breached that easily?

It's about clarity. It's great to correct media misinformation, normalizing, and general "shh, calm down" lingo. Because we force them to come around to language we know is accurate and more truthful.

I'm in the "seditious mob" camp, myself. "Rioters" we both agree on.

Because that's the name of the crime when you execute a plan to forcibly disrupt Congress.
