When the domestic terrorists smashed their way

into the capital building January 6, 2021, they were more than ready to cause destruction and violence. When they encountered Officer Brian Sicknick, they didn't care if he was a Democrat or a Republican. He was simply the enemy. They then, without a thought of who he was, of his loved ones and those dear to him at home, bashed his head in with a fire extinguisher

On the flipside, Officer Brian Sicknick didn't care whether the people in the building were Republicans or Democrats. He had taken an oath to protect them. All of them. People like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Amy Klobuchar, and hundreds of of other Senators and Congressmen and women on both sides of the
aisle. The few seconds he gave everyone in the chambers by giving up his own life may have been just the time needed to alert the danger, begin locking down and begin the evacuations.

I am at a loss to why this hasn't been stated here on DU before this. At least some of the terrorists were going to, at the least, take hostages. At the worst, take out the entire line of Succession. This didn't happen thank the Gods. But every second counted. And our country survived THIS exchange. We need brave people who at the right time do the right thing up to and including giving their lives for even strangers and political opposites. I have no more words to say (that wouldn't get my post hidden, that is) except RIP Officer Brian Sicknick.
