One insurrectionist needed a Russian interpreter

Washington Post article
Dozens arrested after mob storms Capitol; officials vow that more will be charged
Third paragraph down:

One person arrested was charged with possessing a “military style automatic weapon” and 11 molotov cocktails, prosecutors said. Another defendant was charged with assaulting a police officer with a hockey stick. Yet another, who needed a Russian interpreter, told a judge, “I don’t know what unlawful entry you are referring to.” (my boldface)

More likely to be very average American-looking type and maybe even 100% bubba type. Any of those participants could have been compromised for money.

The Russian influence we should worry most about is their non-stop intrusion into social media where they've been known to instigate violence in American cities by posing as American patriots on Facebook or Twitter. They also influence people with videos on YouTube.

Why would they risk getting arrested in America when they can do most of their dirty work on MAGAts using a keyboard in Moscow?

"Vladimir and Lidiya Guryev (Richard and Cynthia Murphy)

Professor Nina Khrushcheva, who served as Vladimir's faculty adviser at The New School for three years starting in 2002, said in July 2010 that she found it difficult to figure out the purported Philadelphia native: "I was always puzzled by the inconsistency between a completely American name and completely Russian behaviour. [...] He had a thick Russian accent and an incredibly unhappy Russian personality.""

"Mikhail Kutsik and Nataliya Pereverzeva (Michael Zottoli and Patricia Mills)

He claimed to be American but had a thick accent and she claimed to be Canadian but neighbors said she sounded Yugoslavian."

I don't think the GRU's language program is as polished as we assume it is.

Also you can "speak English" to the extent that you can order a pizza and tell the taxi where to go but maybe not want to defend yourself from treason and sedition charges in your second language.

I would like to see him living broke and friendless, standing on a street corner, in rags, ranting about "fraud" while people cross the street to avoid him. That would also have the benefit of allowing us to retain our moral standards. Trump is an old man. Like most old men, he has probably come to acceptance that his mortality is a fact, rather than theory. Were he shot at dawn, he would forever be a cult hero. Being inconsequential and ignored would be much more painful and lasting than a bullet.

I don't want him see him dead. I want to see him punished.
