https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/08/politics/melania-trump-white-house-capitol-riot/index.htmlProfessional lighting, the sort used for photography and videography, could be seen through the windows of the White House. "Photos were being taken of rugs and other items in the Executive Residence and the East Wing," a person familiar with the day's activities with the first lady told CNN. Trump -- who, as CNN has reported, has expressed interest in writing a coffee table book about decorative objects she has amassed and had restored in the White House -- was overseeing the photo project, said the source, with her remaining time in the White House dwindling.
Instead, the first lady was quiet, and has remained so. Her disinterest in addressing the country was indicative of being "checked out," said another White House source, who added, "she just isn't in a place mentally or emotionally anymore where she wants to get involved."
Except with the furniture.

But this week was not one of those times.
CNN has reached out multiple times to the East Wing, both before and after Grisham's departure, to ask for comment on the first lady's thoughts about Wednesday's events, or if she had any comment at all. The requests were not answered.

(10,130 posts)they can look at the pictures and feel good about themselves for buying a "book". It will appeal to Magats as it will lend some Trumpian "class" to their homes.

(34,341 posts)And they said Marie Antoinette was tone-deaf and indifferent to suffering.
(Although I know that Marie Antoinette got a bad rap and likely never said anything like, "Let them eat cake" but you catch my drift.)

When she has been involved it was ugly or absurd.

(10,130 posts)Whose paying for the photographers and their sessions? If they're government employees, or if tax dollars paid for these sessions, we (i.e., the US Treasury) should get a cut of the proceeds.
Will someone in the Biden White House staff make sure that all the objects pictured are still in the White House? Mel's too much like her worthless husband to make a distinction between "the people's property" and "mine"
When has she had the time to "amass and restore" decorations? I can see the amassing part - presidents and their wives are often given presents, but over a certain rather low value these belong to the country, not them. And restoring involves actual work, even if all she did was take to conservationists and professional restorers: I don't see her lifting a finger to touch up the paint on the fooking furniture.
OK, a fourth: how much does anyone want to bet that she appears in all the photos?
