(114,674 posts)Horned, shirtless man at the Capitol demonstration identified
https://www.cbs42.com/washington/washington-dc/horned-shirtless-man-at-the-capitol-demonstration-identified/
(NEXSTAR) As a mob of President Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building Wednesday, one face stood out from the crowd in photographs: A tattooed, shirtless man donning horns and red, white and blue face paint inside the chambers.
The horned man in question is none other than 32-year-old Jake Angeli, a familiar face at pro-Trump rallies and a purported QAnon conspiracy theorist sometimes referred to as the QAnon Shaman, according to the Arizona Republics website.

(11,450 posts)So I'm leaning towards Viking. Or more likely he's made up his own cult from bits and pieces of other cultures.
I am fed up with white supremists appropriating Nordic cultural symbols, especially without knowing their roots.

In the past year, Angeli has been spotted often in costume at various demonstrations across the country, including a Washington D.C. protest after Joe Bidens presidential win in November.

(114,674 posts)not Vikings. The facial paint and the entire horned costume is very much in keeping with Plains Indians, including the Lakota Sioux wearing a buffalo headress.

AFAIK, there have never been bison nor buffalo in Scandinavia. Vikings had seers, not shaman.

(8,173 posts)you had better do it right, because if you fail, they will come looking for you.
No, you won't get taken out the back and shot in the back of the head and dumped in an unmarked grave, but you still won't like what happens next.
And that goes for the actual rioters, those who instigated the whole thing, and those who blocked an appropriate response to the invasion of the Capitol building despite predictions of mass chaos.
The fallout from this will be felt far and wide.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
