two options - removal from office, prohibition from holding any future political office.

If he is convicted by the Senate (2/3 vote required) then the Senate decides on one of both of the punishment options by a simple majority vote.

Even after Jan 20, if convicted, the prohibition on future political office could be meted out.

They would have to convict him with reasons and whatnot.

Virtually no possibility this current Senate does that.

Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States; but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

He would be removed from office. Anything else needs to be through the legal process.

A Senate vote is only to remove president. Any criminal or civil action are completely separate He still is Impeached, the pardon power can not be used on any actions related to an impeachment clause
