Biden and Harris need to be in separate locations
even for the inauguration. The same for Pelosi. I don't know if our Pro Temp will be seated by that time, but the same for Leahy.
I guess you could argue that it is giving in to the terrorists, but you also have a Covid reason for a more scaled down/even virtual inauguration. The security for this event is still being provided by Trump's administration, and no one can be trusted in it.

1. That's not giving in, it's common sense
I was in Senior Management of a company in the 90s; not more than 2 of the 5 of us could fly on the same plane, or drive out of the metro area in the same car.
Just in case. |

2. They also might want to have the inauguration in a secure, undisclosed location n/t

3. I wouldn't call it giving in to terrorists. It's putting National Security at the top of the list.
That's a good thing.
I would prefer to see a virtual event from a secure location. No crowds. Once the current administration is far behind us in the rear view mirror and Covid19 is under control we can have tons of balls and parties. We can chalk it up to austerity measures and party next year. I don't want to risk the safety of our new administration or our National Security. |

4. It's called "Battle Strategy" and we didn't start the war.
Thing is, many DEMs actually serve or are BOOTS on the ground in other ways, so we may not go out looking for a fight, but we sure know how to finish one.

5. Been saying this since the election.
These crazy cultists would have no problem dying while taking out our President and Vice President. I think the same might be true for new GA Senators. We can’t trust the capital police and it’s been said that even the secret service has been infiltrated. We did it start this war. For the sake of the future of our republic, all precautions must be taken.

6. They were ready to hang Mike Pence
So I am pretty sure they have no qualms with murdering Democratic politicians

8. This will be the most secured inauguration since WW II inaugs
Even more than the 2000 and 2004 inauguration.
Im quite certain that the Secret Service has considered it, but if not I hope when they do their daily scan of DU it gets picked up and implemented. |

10. Ford took the oath of office in the WH, LBJ took it on AF1.
I think your idea has definite merit.
