(3,282 posts)Those ties were taken out of a Capitol Police riot bag that had a bunch of them in it. So, it doesn't look like they carried them 8n with them, but they did decide to pick them up and take them for some reason.

(3,361 posts)i suppose the gun fell out of a cops pocket too. or taser, whatever the fuck it is.
BGBD
(3,282 posts)on his hip on the way in. I thought it was a gun from the first looks but the one that shows it best does look more like a taser, although it could be a sub-compact pistol. The photo I saw a little earlier of him and his mom on the yard made it look more like a taser than any other I'd seen.
This thread shows the bag where the wrist restraints likely came from.

It matches a CP bag seen in a picture below it on the thread.
They probably had it there and it got abandoned in the rush and then looted.

(18,366 posts)Brock denied that he had entered Pelosis office suite, saying that he stopped five to ten feet ahead of the sign bearing her title that insurrectionists later tore down and brandished. However, in the ITV video, he appears to emerge from the suite. Brock said that he had worn tactical gear because I didnt want to get stabbed or hurt, citing B.L.M. and Antifa as potential aggressors. He claimed that he had found the zip-tie handcuffs on the floor. I wish I had not picked those up, he told me. My thought process there was I would pick them up and give them to an officer when I see one. . . . I didnt do that because I had put them in my coat, and I honestly forgot about them. He also said that he was opposed to vandalizing the building, and was dismayed when he learned of the extent of the destruction. I know it looks menacing, he told me. That was not my intent.

(16,480 posts)Most shotguns are 22" long and they extend well beyond the pump/stock.
BGBD
(3,282 posts)can be bought with a 14" barrel.
https://www.rkguns.com/charles-daly-honcho-tactical-20-gauge-pump-action-5rd-14-shotgun-cf930-156.html
The thing about that gun is that it isn't designed to be fired from the shoulder, so I think the minimum barrel length doesn't matter under NFA and instead the overall length of the gun must be more than 26 inches.

(16,480 posts)But please respect that some of us want to maximize our chances of survival. I'm not going to win hand to hand combat with Degenerate Disk Disease.
We don't carry guns around for intimidation, but I do want to be able to avoid being hacked to death in my bedroom. I respect your choices, please respect mine.
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)cant walk out the door without a gun, or two, strapped to your body, we have to deal with these threats to society.
They wouldnt be this brazen without gunz. Its just going to get worse, more school kids are going to get killed, domestic violence will continue, police will shot people reaching for their wallets and get away with it because it could have been a gun, racists will continue killing innocent people, criminals will still gunz bought by supposed responsible gun owners, etc.
Sorry, but you brought it up to promote gun ownership. How about doing something for society. Leave your gunz at home (where they belong), support restrictions on semi-auto weapons and public toting especially at peaceful protests.
I dont care if you or anyone else has a defense weapon at home, but anything more than that is just selfish and not in best interest of society.
Again, sorry, but Im in no mood for people promoting gunz, and using this crud to do so.
NutmegYankee
(16,480 posts)Nice Strawman fallacy you got there.
WA-03 Democrat
(3,360 posts)Under the National Firearms Act (NFA), it is illegal for a private citizen to possess a sawed-off modern smokeless powder shotgun (a shotgun with a barrel length shorter than 18 inches (46 cm) or a minimum overall length of the weapon, total, including the 18-inch minimum barrel, of under 26 inches (66 cm))
We have to measure his but it look very short and yes the pistol grip adds to the short effect. Hes taking hand cuffs into the Capital. I going to bet he thinks he can do what whatever he wants with immunity.

(14,837 posts)My guess is that the rest of the barrel continues out of frame of the picture.
Then again, anyone stupid enough to violently force their way into the Capitol building is also stupid enough to own one, or more, illegal weapons.
