Rhetorical question: Would the turtle, Graham and other R senators who have seen the light (Original Post) question everything Jan 2021 OP
Kind of messes up Lindsey's plan to investigate Hunter Biden. He'll just be the ranking member Walleye Jan 2021 #1

McConnell holding the Senate, winning GA, he would still hold considerable power and would not need to get religion.

They would launch a PR campaign to make the whole "sedition thing" go away in public consciousness. McConnell would still have the same power he had over Obama, to make sure Biden is a one term president and block any and all decent legislation.

McConnell and the rest of the R's would still walk the line with Trump.

But since McConnell lost GA, lost the senate, lost his caucus, his party dissolving in front of him, he had to get in the carwash line to rid himself of the Trump stink.

He's dragging his feet on the impeachment trial dates. It's just more antagonism from him.

He didn't get religion, he just got in the car wash to rid himself of the Trump stink.

Of course he is going to drag his feet on impeachment. If it was a tax cut for the rich or
appointing a judge he would do that tonight.

He is in a bit of a bind however. If Trump does any more damage, McConnell is going to look bad.
If Trump is impeached McConnell is going to look bad.

I wonder if McConnell is pressuring Trump to resign? Or just going to cross his fingers and hope Trump will not try to overthrow the government or kill more people in the next two weeks.

I do suspect that McConnell pressured Trump to make the hostage concession speech.

Any kind words spoken the night of the 6th were purely self serving and cynically delivered with crocodile tears.

1. To have learned something
2. To have some measure of self-awareness

So no. They have a situational scramble going on, but they would - and will - do the same thing all over again.

Election interference (whatever the correct terminology is) wrt to his Georgia's phone calls to the Sec. of State overseeing the state's elections. I've been observing what appears to me to be his "self check" mode which he seems to be operating on since that report went public. Which sort of explains to me why he didn't do a Ted Cruz/Hawley insurrection clown show.

He's a slimy weasel and always has been since his days in Congress and after.
