(3,473 posts)Even if all the right-wing nutjobs moved to some other platform, are the rest of us sane people going to follow? So the crazies move to some cesspool and leave the other platforms with less bullshit. Good riddance.

I hope you're right, especially about the crazies.

There might be a period of withdrawal pangs from friends and foes alike, but people will get over it and will welcome the PEACE.
Twitter will be just fine. It's perfect for people who want to *quickly* get information or speak their minds without grandma chiming in.

Can Donald Trump revive Twitter?
Twitter has struggled in recent years to gain more users and increase advertising revenue. But some wonder if the new US president could be its financial savior.
By Zhai Yun Tan, Staff / December 8, 2016
The 2016 elections were seen by some as a boon for Twitter, a kind of political lifeline for a company that has been struggling with declining advertising revenues and slowing user growth in recent years.
On the campaign trail and as president-elect, Donald Trump has taken to Twitter frequently to express his views and sometimes, make major announcements, rather than hold a traditional press conference.

(166 posts)I know it seems inconceivable, but a lot of Twitter doesn't revolve around politics. I'm pretty sure the platform will do just fine - as it always has.

things weren't looking too rosy before Trump, but I still hope you're right.

(166 posts)I mean, if you follow political hashtags there, that can be your complete experience. I check them out when they are trending, but if I'm in the mood for politics, something like DU is far more satisfying.
Twitter is just fun for the wonderful people I've met there, and our shared interests. I don't even know what their politics are
