Caravan for Trump in Miami's Little Havana - Photo by mia
The 100,000 people who tuned into Alexander Otaolas YouTube program to hear his thoughts immediately after Wednesdays deadly insurrection in the nations capital heard the Spanish-language, social media influencer downplay the violence and cast blame on the left.
Protesting isnt illegal, said Otaola, of Miami, who emerged last year as instrumental in building South Florida support for President Donald Trump. Even though Democrats want to demonize what happened today and turn it into the worst thing thats ever happened, I believe that the last few months under the terror of Black Lives Matter and antifa has been the saddest period of time in the U.S.
What Otaola says and does matters. He was instrumental in organizing a series of massive pro-Trump car caravans last year in Miami. And his influence earned him an interview with Trump, translated by Republican Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, just days before the election....
A narrower, but equally false claim was made on Friday afternoon by Cuban-American radio host Agustin Acosta on Actualidad Radio, Miamis most popular AM radio station, when he alleged that a facial recognition firm had identified at least one antifa member in the mob that stormed the Capitol, echoing a widely shared (and debunked) news story from the Washington Times. Acostas co-host, Carines Moncada who last year made national news when she accused a Black Lives Matter co-founder of practicing witchcraft shared a link to that misleading story with her more than 45,000 Twitter followers....

(18,359 posts)and there hasn't been nearly enough coverage of their journalist malpractice. You don't just pull a story like that. You come before the public with a detailed explanation of how you messed the story up.
Here is the corrected story on their website. Note the tag still says antifa. Not much of a retraction at the beginning.
CORRECTED: Facial recognition identifies extremists storming the Capitol
Note how if you don't read the below you come away not knowing that Antifa wasn't involved. The bigger story is that your incorrect article is now a matter of public record in Congress.

I mean this shit has got to stop.

It is only a matter of time until BLM and ANTIFA have to share the blame with Obama and Hillary. It is as certain as the sun will rise in the East.
Am I the odd man out here? I have not been terrified of BLM or ANTIFA.

Yes, that's true! In response to the attempted coup, Olive Garden took Hannity's free pasta privileges away.

(17,757 posts)As a group, they are very conservative. Many of them have not yet forgiven Kennedy and all Democrats for the Bay of Pigs. I think, to some degree, many of them have a pathological fear that someone might think that the may be, or may be from, a "Communist" family, so they overcompensate. Of course, this is a psychological profile from a trained plumber.

(8,480 posts)Never a call for sending anyone back into exile. Cubans are my neighbors, my friends, and I understand where they are coming from. With the memory that Kennedy betrayed them, they make the mistake of thinking that Trump is their friend. Immigrants throughout the times have looked for ways to survive and have sought to ally themselves with power. Some in Miami have embraced this, and have gone beyond - into the formation of their own mob. Miami politics, at the present time, is rife with this. It goes on and on. Even if it isn't in the news now, it's being talked about on the streets.

Florida is a prize, and it is within reach. The Cuban-American minority, despite its political history, is a natural constituency for the Democratic Party. They are only kept away by lies, conspiracy theories, and habit. A few good people here notwithstanding, today's Democratic Party is about as socialist as Mitt Romney. But we do believe in protecting minorities. And we do believe in providing a helping hand for those in need.
