Their admins saying Amazon Web Service is taking them down tomorrow night. They’ll have to find a new host and transfer all their infrastructure over. They’ll be down at least a week. Probably more like 2 weeks.

This is something that will undoubtedly save lives!

Really a must read article. AWS lays everything out exactly why. They gave them chance after chance.

And read between the lines at the end. It’s a big FU, AWS knows they’re screwed. Basically, “we’ll save all your data for you, and help you migrate it to your own servers.” They know Parler doesn’t have the hardware and won’t have it or the connections. They’re going to have to look for someone who does.

29. That's what happens when one builds on the cheap.

If one builds out an Internet service by renting out servers then one is subject to the terms of service of the host. Parler broke the terms of service and thus are getting booted off AWS.

AWS is a good hosting outfit. Competitive in price too. Easy to scale up if one needs to rapidly grow a service without having to rush out and buy new hardware.

If one wants to have full control one has to buy their own servers. And get their own connections. But if one needs to scale up new hardware will be required.

Amazon, Microsoft, Google... They all are going to have some requirements for moderation especially since they are on notice these are bad actors. They will have to go offshore and be at the mercy of bad actor hosting services that know they are desperate. They are toast. The amount of money it would take to independently set up a platform is beyond what they have or would ever spend. They are grifters!
