Impeachment for sedition is as 'equally irresponsible' as Trump's insurrection: Texas Republican

As calls grew on Saturday for a second impeachment of President Donald Trump, Republicans began circling the wagons in an attempt to defend the leader of their party.

Interestingly, Republicans did not try to defend Trump on the merits, but instead argued that impeachment would be worse than the fatal insurrection by Trump supporters.

On Saturday, a group of Republicans sent a letter begging President-elect Joe Biden to urge Speaker Nancy Pelosi to reject calls for impeachment in the interests of "unity." The letter was panned as "blame-shifting nonsense."

Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) went further, saying Democrats may "incite" violence by holding Trump accountable in a statement that showed he apparently is not educated as to the definition of the word.

So he equates the two. Putting them on the scale of justice or terrible things or whatever, he really equates the two things. He just doesn't want members of his party put on record regarding the events of this past week or indeed even the events of the past 4 years. I want every single Republican in the House and the Senate to have to go on record. Is this really your man? As more and more will come out in the hearings being held in the House and Senate regarding the attack on the Capitol, more will be coming out regarding the actions of the people around him. They are anywhere between begging and demanding Congress and Biden to let the nation "heal." In this case I think there can be no healing unless the wound is lanced and drained of pus. Slapping a bandage on will not lead to healing.

On almost the same note, I came in my house today after delivering a care package I think shortly after 3 and MSNBC was on TV and the host was interviewing a new Republican who was of course among those trapped in the Capitol and she seemed very nice and seemed to say all the right things about being scared and grateful for the cops, etc, then as she was finishing up her interview she started to talk about yes we'll have to do things better, etc. and cut right to the Republican line of on both sides and I just about lost it. No one was blaming her, just her creepy Trump party but even she, a brand new rep couldn't resist hinting that Dems are at least a bit responsible.

convict, and lockup Trump, and all of his co-conspirators, for their failed coup attempt.

The Republican Party has always claimed to be "the party of personal responsibility." In that spirit, they should be made to understand that the majority of Americans take coup attempts against the government of the USA very personally. All of those personally responsible for this coup attempt must be held personally accountable for their seditious, treasonous actions, and punished for all of their crimes against the United States of America.
