Parler CEO Says Service Dropped By "Every Vendor" And Could End His Business

Deadline
Bruce Haring
January 10, 2021 12:04pm

Parler CEO Mark Matze said today that his company have been dropped by virtually all of their business alliances after Amazon, Apple and Google ended their agreements with the social media service.

“Every vendor from text message services to email providers to our lawyers all ditched us too on the same day,” Matze said today on Fox News.

Matze conceded that the bans could put the company out of business while raising free speech issues, calling it “an assault on everybody.”

“They all work together to make sure at the same time we would lose access to not only our apps, but they’re actually shutting all of our servers off tonight, off the internet,” Matze said. “They made an attempt to not only kill the app, but to actually destroy the entire company. And it’s not just these three companies. Every vendor from text message services to email providers to our lawyers all ditched us too on the same day.”

...SNIP...

“We’re going to try our best to get back online as quickly as possible. But we’re having a lot of trouble because every vendor we talk to says they won’t work with us. Because if Apple doesn’t approve and Google doesn’t approve, they won’t.

It won't scale.

They need a website that has an https web client interface or it won't grow. You can't have a website on TOR, and decentralized clients don't scale to the number of users you want. A fully uncensorable decentralized ledger type system is very possible, however stenography would permit users to post illegal content on such a system. You could get around it with AI that flags post that have stenographic content but it would be subverted.

There are no free speech issues involved in your situation. Apple, Google et al. are all private companies. What's happening to you is what Republicans used to call the free market.

The First Amendment protects us from the government censoring us. It doesn't say a word about private companies' behavior.

Obvious hopefully, but seriously. This isn't a "free speech" issue. I would give him more respect if he had said, "This is an issue of censorship", but right wingers don't really care about the meaning of words. They operate in a world of feelings, not logic, despite Ben Shapiro's stupid catchphrase, "Facts don't care about your feelings".

This is a group of private companies who are making a business decision. They see the toxicity of the message on Parler and they are saying, "this will be bad for the bottom line". They are getting backlash for their hateful ideas not who they are. They could be conservative and have a whole range of outlets to discuss conservative views, but they are not. They are extremist, bigoted, White Supremacists, Anti-Semites, Xenophobic, Misogynists, etc... whose views are so extreme at this point, as to not be tenable in a marketplace. This is the consequence of their views and words and the actions that those views and words unleashed on January 6th 2021. Hopefully Parler, Fox, OANN, Newsmax, and all other right wing garbage will face a similar reckoning.

Search warrant on the way.

Good thing you collected the drivers licenses of everyone who signed up. They might knock a year or two off you sentence for sedition if you co-operate.

...the stability of that government? This isn’t about free speech rights, you morons, because all of these are non-governmental free-enterprise outfits, and their decision to drop the ban-hammer is their own.

For which I thank them, actually, but I still distrust their inherent allegiance to democracy.

Every court precedent agrees. Sedition, incitement of violence, and advocacy of crime are not protected by the first amendment. Nor are libel or slander. Put the two together and most "hate speech" in general is unprotected. So are threats and attempts to cause panic. All in all, very little of fascist discourse actually falls within protected political speech.

I’m sure Parler has terms of service. Have they ever blocked or banned anyone?

I can only imagine how toxic it is over there. These types love to argue with the libtards, but I’m sure there aren’t many liberals over there, so they would end up arguing with each other. 🙄

Rebekah Mercer must be so proud of her funding of this site that helped fuel conspiracy and the ransacking of the US Capitol. She is an accessory for providing the tools for the crime. How do we get these people out of our country? If they don’t want to live in a democracy, then let them find another country to live in. I’m sick of their stupidity and their crap of claiming to take back their country. It’s our country, not their country.

All the businesses, especially the small ones that had to close due to Agent Orange-tan not only lying and refusing to do anything to stop the spread of Covid-19, but fueling behavior that accelerated it actually have a grievance against the government for what happened to them. Giving aid and comfort to seditious traitors and having business partners sever ties with you as a result does not qualify as a grievance against the government.

He needs to take his snowflake face of tears and place it in front of a mirror. There he'll find the entity deserving of his grievance.

There are no "free speech issues" here. It's NOT "the government" doing this. Neither the FCC nor Congress are "making laws" that are "limiting" your "speech".

It's free-wheeling "private industry" that you all so love, making a "business decision".

I suspect within a few days they will announce they found an offshore isp to host their app servers. Just like wikileaks, it will be shrouded in layers of misdirection and shady funding.

But the site won't be gone for long. It's too valuable to putin and his oligarch's.
