(58,785 posts)various means, including their social media histories, facial recognition (there were cameras all over the place), their hotel and transportation arrangements identified, etc. A standard first step is to put people suspected of terrorist acts on no-fly lists so they can't fly away.
One of the many delusions of those who came to participate in insurrection, even murder, was that they were heroic patriots who would win out. And we see the shock at discovering they've fallen into the evil clutches of the Illuminati's deep state instead. Or whatever their version is.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Saturday vowed to take strong enforcement action against unruly passengers following reports of supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump disrupting flights returning from Washington.
=========
Dickson said unruly passenger behavior ... can distract, disrupt and threaten crewmembers ability to conduct their key safety functions. He added the FAA will pursue strong enforcement action against anyone who endangers the safety of a flight, with penalties ranging from monetary fines to jail time.
==================
Alaska Airlines said on Friday it banned 14 passengers from future travel with the carrier after unacceptable behavior on a flight from Washington to Seattle.
Seattle-based Alaska said a number of passengers on a flight out of Washington late on Thursday were non-mask compliant, rowdy, argumentative and harassed our crew members.https://www.reuters.com/article/usa-election-airlines/faa-chief-vows-tough-line-after-some-trump-supporters-disrupt-flights-idUSL1N2JK0ET
American Airlines and United Airlines have both increased staffing at the DC-area airports where they operate. American is also suspending alcohol service on its flights to and from the region.
The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) International, which represents nearly 50,000 flight attendants at 17 airlines, said the rioters should not be allowed on flights home.
================================
"We are incredibly concerned about recent politically motivated incidents on board passenger aircraft," read the release from the APFA president Julie Hedrick. "Regardless of one's political beliefs, the cabin of a commercial aircraft must, out of necessity, be a calm environment for the safety of everyone onboard."
The statements come after several altercations on flights to DC ahead of the gathering of the president's most fervent supporters.
One video shared on Twitter showed Trump supporters yelling and arguing with other passengers aboard an American Airlines flight. In addition, Washington Post photographer Jabin Botsford posted video to Twitter of two passengers being removed from a flight to DC, and other videos showed pro-Trump supporters heckling Sen. Mitt Romney in the airport and on a flight.
"The mob mentality behavior that took place on several flights to the D.C. area (Tuesday) was unacceptable and threatened the safety and security of every single person onboard. It will not happen again," Nelson said.

(3,932 posts)Lets just say its a large telecommunications company. Friday I had one guy call and say he was mad as hell that we had cut him off from Parler (we hadnt). And if we had he was going to go to a competitor (they had). Then I had a woman called literally crying because we were taking away her freedom.
Im pretty sure what happened was that there were so many people signing up just to see what was there that it crashed their server.

(3,868 posts)My Daughter flew out of DC back to Indianapolis on Thursday. Plane Was Oversold and Full of MAGAs.
She was one of very few Black folks on the flight filled with rowdy loud red hat wearing boisterous idiots.
That flight usually costs less than $200 RT but was going for $1700 one way according to some of the MAGAs who bought last minute tickets to get out of DC. Airline was offering $500 for folks to give up their seat.

Perhaps you should have thought about consequences BEFORE you attacked the Capitol.

Their lives will be destroyed, Trump will be destroyed, Hawley and Cruz will become irrelevant. New domestic terrorism laws will pass. Big tech will take away their communication.

(15,909 posts)Unless they've improved coverage A LOT since the last time I was there, having so many cell phones packed into so tight an area completely overwhelms the system capacity. You might as well turn off your phone because it actually uses up more power desperately trying to lock onto a signal than when it has a good signal. You get no service AND a dead battery for your trouble.
LiberalArkie
(19,806 posts)Silent3
(15,909 posts)All I'm saying is that because the service is so miserable and battery-draining, a lot of people might turn their phones off and not be detectable.
At least the smart ones. And given this crowd, that might not be too many of them.
And, as noted in the video in the tweet I posted earlier in the thread, the Capitol is chock full of cell and Bluetooth receivers/repeaters, for obvious reasons (members of Congress have both more genuine need for connectivity and more ability to raise a stink if their Animal Crossing game lags).

(6,122 posts)They have not been paying attention.
When you act up or act out, word gets around, numbskulls. Nobody likes flying with a terrorist on board. When you vandalize the real center and symbol of our democracy and people die in the process, you might be labeled a terrorist. And there are real world consequences that go along with that.
If he thinks he was having a bad day at the airport trying to get home, just imagine how distressed he will be when he finds out his life just descended to the gates of hell.
Boo fin hoo.
