I slept in late and from the time I woke up and turned on the Sunday morning political shows I have been toggling between my various message boards and click, click, clicking posts that fuel my rage. I hope I can last through inauguration day without my freaking head exploding.
I was planning a dry (alcohol free) January, like I did last year. It was a good way of calibrating my alcohol consumption. Had all intentions of doing it again this year. Then Jan. 6.
Dry February maybe...

One thing I am seeing is the widespread shunning by decent society that is going on - from online platforms to the PGA!!
And don't forget:
WE WON BOTH SENATORIAL ELECTIONS IN GEORGIA THIS WEEK TO TAKE THE MAJORITY IN THE SENATE (w/ VP Harris as tie-breaker) WHICH PAIRS NICELY WITH OUR HOUSE MAJORITY AND W HOUSE VICTORIES EARLIER THIS ELECTION CYCLE!!!

(36,023 posts)but I don't have a lot of confidence in holding out for the first month.
Coping mechanisms take hold with sustained stress, so I sympathize.
Take care. Take breaks. Keep sleeping as much as possible. Drink more water. Read good books. They can be both distracting, comforting and enlightening.

2 oz gin
2 oz pear puree (recipe below)
Club soda
Thyme
For Pear Puree:
1 medium pear, peeled, cored and diced
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp honey
2 tbsp water
INSTRUCTIONS
To make the pear puree, heat all ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally. Simmer until pears are softened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Blend in a blender or food processor.
To make cocktail, place gin and pear puree in a shaker with ice cubes and shake. Strain into a highball glass with ice. Top with soda and garnish with thyme.

(2,149 posts)But there's one pear per batch of the purée so it only counts if you make enough of these to use all the purée
