Has largely been exaggerated I still think that, but they were there doing stuff. I read an account from a German M-P who was escorting some panzer officers. They'd stopped at a little french inn when all the air traffic began the night before; night of June 5th. The Germans set up in the inn and the MP was on guard out side. A captain came out and they were looking up in the sky. A young French woman came out and gave them coffee and bread. Then she offer to show the captain to a room to take a nap. I know I was thinking for a dalliance but later the other Germans came out and asked about the captain They searched the inn and all the french were gone. Found the captain laying in bed with a bullet thru his brain. They found one of those little one shot pistols the allies had been dropping to the french. It sounded like they actually had been used often.
