The current occupant and complicit GOP have placed our nation in grave danger. There is no room for missteps now. Out of an abundance of caution, Democracy must be guarded at all costs and that includes the lives of our President and Vice President all the way down the line of succession.

There are ample reasons to forgo celebrations. No balls, no parties, no hoopla.
At the current rate there will be nearly 400,000 Americans to be mourned by inauguration day due to the current administration's failure to allow qualified scientists to make policy regarding the pandemic.
There are hungry families who face eviction and foreclosure.
Out of respect for those who have suffered and for those who will yet suffer great loss due to the pandemic and financial hardship, America must be willing to postpone instant pleasure to realize long term stability.
