She was 82 but was still in decent condition for her age. Super sweet lady that never forgot a birthday or our wedding anniversary.
She, heavily influenced by her kids, did not take COVID seriously though.
Got sick last week and passed away on Sunday.
Will miss her. Really will.
Its not a joke. Please take it seriously.

(12,441 posts)They were sick and went over to house anyway.
One of those idiots, in their 60s, is in the hospital as well and one of their kids in their 30s.
Its a complete shitshow. Just wish she had not been caught up in their mess.

(63,221 posts)My condolences to you and your family. May she rest in peace.
It seems like every day this hits us all closer and closer to home. We just found out that a family friend has passed away from Covid, and he was only 62. I wasn't in touch with him and don't know how he lived his life other than he was married with three children.
My dad is a year younger than your great aunt, and I still don't see him as that old because he looks younger and is in relatively good shape, other than having had a heart proceedure this summer (arrythmia), but I am frightened for him. He and my mother are leaving for Florida in a few weeks until May, and that scares me even more.
Anyway, sorry to go off on a tangent. Sending you and yours healing vibes and kind wishes.

(24,383 posts)My Mother In Law's cousin and best friend, has been on a vent for over a month and they're expected to remove life support today. In her late 60s.
She got it at Thanksgiving from her Trumper kids who had tested positive 2 days before, but they were only experiencing mild symptoms so they were sure they couldn't spread it. Because they listen to crazies.

Quick side question - Usually incubation period for coronavirus is 7-14 days, usually showing symptoms on the 3rd or 5th day. 3-4 weeks for death.
I'm reading more and more about a faster, more lethal version of the virus from the UK. With the time span your aunt had, do you think she may have caught the UK variant?

(12,441 posts)She became symptomatic enough to be hospitalized on either Tues or Wed (she lived on other side of country from me so timeline is fuzzy) and passed on Sunday.
Her mind was very quick and fully functional but her body was wearing down. She had got over pneumonia (unrelated as far as I know) about 5 or 6 weeks ago.
So hospitalization to death was pretty quick.
Just so disappointed. Genuinely kind and happy lady. Will miss her.
