At least two Capitol Police officers have been SUSPENDED, per
@RepTimRyan
, the House appropriator who oversees Capitol Police funding.
Of the two suspended officers, one took the now infamous selfie and the other wore a MAGA hat while directing rioters.

(18,828 posts)It was crazy. They were overwhelmed. It happened before he could really do anything... Not the MAGA hat. It was a massive red flag he was not in any way going to do his job. Not to mention the issue of being out of uniform.

(5,969 posts)Once they were in and the cops were heavily outnumbered, all they could try was de-escalation. It was rather a case of allowing the photo.
On the other side, at the same time, other cops were fighting, some risking their lifes which makes taking photographs look really bad.

(9,173 posts)weren't there for benign reasons. Posing with them for a lighthearted photo sent a very wrong signal of approval of what they were doing--and what they were doing was sedition and terrorism.

(18,828 posts)him and the guy snapped the selfie. It wasnt exactly a posed photo. Should he have pushed him away? He was completely surrounded. People were yelling to hang Pence. I just dont know.

(9,173 posts)or was afraid for his own safety, maybe. But I'm guessing cops on guard or patrol duty don't usually like you to come up behind them (especially in tense/confusing situations) and let you pull them in close for any reason--could be trying to take your weapon or tase you.
