In the wake of Wednesday's assault on the nation's Capitol, President Donald Trump has been advised he potentially could face civil liability connected to his role in encouraging supporters who went on to storm Congress, sources familiar with the conversations told ABC News.

"Think O.J.," an adviser explained it to Trump, according to one source. It was a reference to O.J. Simpson, who was found not guilty of murdering his ex-wife and a friend but later faced stiff civil damages after being sued by his ex-wife's family.

Prior to Wednesday, the president and his advisers had been discussing a self-pardon -- something that would be both historic and untested in American history -- in the wake of a phone call with Trump and Georgia election officials that was made public. The sources say if the president were to self-pardon, it would only strengthen the motivation to bring civil cases against the 45th president.

... he had the "absolute right."

Intent. He was planning crimes specifically with full intent absolving himself of culpability. Basically, he was only doing a Corporate raid on himself in his mind. Harvest some profits from the company he was CEO in.

In his mind he wasn't elected President, he was turned loose in the candy store.

yep that's all it ever was: a "winner take all" competition.
He thinks being president is about being able to do whatever you want - not a public service job.

Winning and responsibility are not in the same universe for him.

... winning is all he cares about, responsibility is just one more word he doesn't understand or use in relation to himself.

I pity Don JR almost as much as I looooathe him; with a "dad" like he has - if he ever had an honest bone in his body, it escaped.

Someone who never had to worry about failure, existing in his own fantasy world,. a product of his own abusive creepy family. Who has ZERO concept of honor, duty, service, responsibility. To him that's not for winners, it's for suckers.

That's why there is also so much responsibility on the enablers that saw him as their perfect source of $$, perfect tool, representation, outlet for all their racism, white power, etc.

As hideous as trump is - he's the Frankenstein monster - a LOT OF PEOPLE made the monster come to life, enabled him, feared him, made money off him, gave him power, etc, etc. People who didn't care about truth, morality, or ANYTHING as long as they also made out. They also have no concept of honor, duty, service, responsibility. And don't forget privileged - no consequences for any of their actions either.

A lot of our culture is sick - its all a "game" and it's "fun" to troll, make shit up, etc all for $$$. And the pathetic people (disenfranchised? mental issues?, filled with hate?, used? victims of propaganda?, etc) have been convinced it's all real and that trump is their savior, etc.

Stunning really.... and VERY sad.
