I live in a small, rural, county. 45,000 people. Our county is being allocated 200 doses a week. The math stinks!

I suppose it's akin to Americans going to Canada for lower-priced pharmaceuticals.

deathsentence has been just about the worst thing for floriduh, along with littlemarco and pricksnott.

(17,528 posts)and pulled a distribution solution out of his ass. It is a crime how poorly this situation is. When we contacted our doctor about how could we, (both near 70) get the vaccine, the answer was, "I don't know."
DeSantis is proving his Republican credentials to be a future president; denial, ruthlessness, ignorance, greed and hate. He probably sees it as the most likely people to die from the disease are the poor, so what is the downside?

(5,940 posts)In our county on the west coast of Fl, the pharmacies, the hospitals and even the grocery stores are all set up to distribute the vaccine, but like you, we can't get an appointment because there's no vaccine.

(17,528 posts)I do not think that the paltry distribution, as it now exists, will stay in place once we get rid of "warp speed" and come up with a real plan. I am really hoping to have had both doses sometime in the next few months. Every time I go buy groceries I feel like a soldier going into battle with the maskless armies. My wife is diabetic. If I get it, I will bring it home and more likely than not kill my life partner.
Where I live, there is no grocery deliver, no curbside pickup. In fact, we live in the definition of a "food desert." If you want to eat you have to enter the battle zone where even the employees do not mask up.....In fact, the customers do better than the store workers. I have complained until my face was blue, to no avail. Winn-Dixie just does not enforce mask discipline. We can credit DeSantis with that situation. Our county has a mask ordinance, but DeSantis refuses to allow them any enforcement measures.

(5,940 posts)I really feel for you. I can't imagine having to experience the shopping hell you're having to deal with. Even though most people wear masks here, we have the maskless brigade that goes around sneaking up behind shoppers, reaching in front of them pretending to need something and then an inch away from your face saying, "Oh excuse me dear...ha, ha, ha." I personally experienced that in one trip from 2 people, and I've spoken to other residents in our community who have seen it and experienced it - a lot of the MAGAs here say it's "a thing." Our county doesn't even have a mask ordinance! We're close to Tampa and mostly surrounded by counties with mask mandates, but our commissioners will die before doing anything like that. And now all 67 counties are in the official, red, danger zone. They are now saying that even a robust vaccination delivery system won't contain it because the spread is so evenly throughout the state, and the experts are imploring DeathSantis to put restrictions in place, but he won't have it. And to make matters worse, half of all the cases in the country of the new, more infectious strain are here in good ol' Floriduh. If we make it out alive, it will be a miracle.

That's not fair.
